MoonJam 2022 Summer Game Jam Entry

Adaptive Difficulty PvE Horde Shooter

3rd Year Final Project

For my final project, I decided to create an adaptive difficulty inspired by Left 4 Dead's director system. This system analyses how well the player is playing through multiple collected data points. These data points generate a number (based on the Elo system in chess and the MMR system in ranked online games) in real-time that ranks the player from bronze to platinum. This rank and several other factors decide how hard the game is going to be by adjusting enemy spawn limits, spawn timers, and if enemies can spawn with armor. As this was my first large-scale project in UE4 I didn't achieve the full goal of the project but I still am happy with how this turned out. This project was mainly made with blueprints with around 20% of the project being done in C++.

The Traveller

   2020 Bolton University Collaboration Project

A third person platformer madein 12 weeks by a team of 6 students consisting of 3 Designers, 2 Artists and 1 Programmer (thats me!). Contains 3 levels in which you must recover a piece of your ship after a crash on an unknown planet. The assets in the game were all designed to be editable in engine so timings and speeds could be changed. The game also includes data persistance in the form of a save file.

Blackmarket Blacksmith

A blacksmithing game in which you have to earn as much money as you can to pay your rent at the end of the day by selling weapons. To earn enough money you have to use inferior and cheaper material, but be careful the customer doesnt notice!

This game includes an inventory and item management system that I programmed from scratch and am rather proud of.
